Updates

04/20/2020 – Edited point 6 (Forfeit) and 8 (Forfeit), requiring captain’s vote.

1. What is FBG

First Blood Gaming is a community, that currently hosts 3 vouch-based leagues (DotA, LIHL and FBG LTD) for players who are looking to play high skilled/competitive games with a fair set of rules.

2. Joining the League

To maintain a competitive, friendly gaming environment, FBG requires that all players be vouched in order to participate in the league. This means that the league recognizes you (namely, your account) as a skilled, mannered player who deserves to play in the league.
In order to get vouched, you will need to pass a trial (which will be evaluated by our Admins, taken in consideration your in-game performance), and you can start it by doing the following:

A) Use the following format and post on the forums here
B) Find us on Discord and tag one of our @DotA-Admin there to initiate your trial process.

Alternatively, if you played with one of our FBG DotA players, ask one of them to vouch for you (on discord, or on your vouch request).

You must have a Discord Account and willing to actively use it to join inhouse games, as this is our official channel of communication (Without the usage of Discord, you will not be able to take advantage of the benefits, including the queue system).

Miscellaneous

For those on trial, the trial period will last until our Admins confirm your skill.
Players are recommended to use Discord as a method of team communication. If you need any help setting up Discord, you can ask the other players or the Staff.
The FBG Discord channels dedicated to DotA Inhouse Games are #games, #queue, #stats and #replay-upload.
The game name will be posted in Discord – #games.
DotA currently uses the following map version : DotA_v6.87.1

3 – Official Channels

Our main and officials channels of communication are :

  • Forum – Any information regarding/related to News & Announcements, Ban appeals, Ban Requests, Tournaments, amongst others, can be found here;
  • Discord – Main channel used for communication & organization within the league;

Note: Although Inhouse players use Whatsapp to contact each other, this is a non-official channel, and no decisions/information written here will be taken into consideration (Important information & decisions will be announced on the Forum/Discord)

4 – Hosting Games

Every inhouse game requires an Admin present, to be considered valid (Once the game ends, an Admin will upload the game, to update the elo/stats). Also, inhouse games should be hosted by the Admins (If not available, one of the current players can also host).

5 – Joining Games

The game name will be posted on Discord (channel #games).
If there are more than 10 players waiting to play, then priority for slots is:

  1. Players that are in the queue
  2. Players on the winning team
  3. Players from the losing team

If you want to be added to the queue for the next game, you can do it yourself on Discord – channel #queue (You may not queue yourself if you’re currently ingame playing: You must wait for the game to end, and you are only allowed to queue once slots are determined for the next game)
It is highly recommended to check and see how long the current inhouse game has been running to help you decide if you have time to play a game or to do something else while you wait – Just message on Discord – #games and ask how long the game is going, or whisper a player/admin on battle net (Note: Queue will be automatically locked after a game ends, so if you haven’t queued before this happens, you will have to wait until current lobby is set, and queue for next game)
After all queued players are in, if there are still slots remaining, then the winners/losers from the previous game are allowed to play. If there are not enough slots for all players to play, then an Admin will run the randomizer list generated upon replay upload – Players will be picked by the order in the printed list (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) – For those that do not get a slot, you may queue for the next game, once all slots are filled and game starts.
Players (Queued) will be given 5 minutes in order to claim their spot, and otherwise will give up their spot to the next player in line.
Since the game mode is Captain’s Draft (CD), we will ask for volunteers to be captains. If we have more than two volunteers for captains, they can roll for captain spots in the #games channel. If you do not think someone is capable of being captain, or you think that the captain match-up is extremely unfair, then please voice your concern IMMEDIATELY and we will see if there is an alternative captain available or if we can live with the current choices. Once an admin has confirmed that the captains are locked, the captains can no longer be veto’ed or swapped out. Note that the winning captain from the prior game has priority on being captain again (as ‘King of the Hill’), but can elect not to captain if so desired. If no one is willing to captain after several minutes, then an admin will need to assign captains (If this happens, captains will be chosen to ensure a fair and competitive game).
If the admin-assigned captains refuse to captain, the admin has the right to make those players sit 1 game.
Note: Observer slots should be used for players who are interested in observing the game; Slot priority: Trial > Streamers (1 at least, if available) > Players in general.

5.1.1 – Player Draft

To make teams fair, FBG employs a player draft:

  • As captain, you will roll (#roll) on Discord – #games, to see who will get to first pick a player (Higher roll wins and can decide which captain does the first pick) – In alternative, you may whisper an admin rock-paper-scissors (winner picks first).
  • The number of players picked by each captain is in this sequence: 1-2-2-2-1 (winner picks 1 player, then loser picks 2 players, etc.).
  • If you dodge the game (leave the lobby) because you do not agree with the order of player picks, you are subject to a temporary ban.

5.1.2 – Game Format Overview

Game format will always be CD mode. In CD mode, each team will have a captain that will pick heroes for the players on their team. As such, if you are not a captain, please inform your captain of which heroes you would like to play (name, at least, 3 or more heroes, so your captain has options).
Note that the captain has the right to give you the hero of his choosing, but will try to accommodate the player requests when it makes sense to do so. For example, if the other team picks counters to the hero you want, then your captain might elect not to give you your hero choice. This is a part of what makes the games competitive, so please respect your captain and do your best to win the game, even if you do not get the hero you want.
Since these are competitive games, at the start of every game, 1 player will buy a set of wards and 1 player will buy a chicken. The player who buys the chicken must share control of the chicken with all teammates. Failure to comply with these orders can drastically affect your team’s early game potential, so please listen to the captain for these assignments to ensure a good game & teamwork.

5.1.3 – Captaining

As Captain of your team, your responsibility is to ask your team for advice on what heroes should be banned/picked, and what heroes they would like to play. Ultimately though, it is your decision and all players need to respect the choices you make (Only exception is if the Captain is intentionally ruining the game, by picking the worst 5 heroes, picking 5 melee carries, etc.) – Note: Unfair/unbalanced captain matchups may be veto’ed by Admins.
If a captain runs out of time while picking (ending up randoming the remaining heroes), or clicks the wrong hero(es), there will be no remake allowed – game must be played, however the captain will be subject to a captain warning/ban (in case he randoms heroes)
After the hero draft is complete, each player must select the hero assigned to them by the Captain. If no hero was specifically assigned to them yet, they should ask the Captain which hero to pick. The Captain may give the player the option of choosing from the remaining unassigned heroes (Keep in mind that the Captain has the right to change hero assignments, even if you already made your hero selection).
The Captain will assign 1 player to buy wards, assign 1 player to buy chicken, and give lane assignments (Captains are allowed a 2 minutes pause, after pick phase, to assign heroes,courier/ward, lanes to the team). It is the responsibility of the player to listen to these orders, and follow/cooperate.

6 – Rules

As a league, our standards and expectations are higher than pub games. We expect players to be strong in both gaming and mind. Therefore, all players should respect their mates and the games they share. Violating any of the following rules can result in disciplinary actions, including verbal warnings and temporary or permanent bans from inhouse games, depending on the number and extent of the offense.

In-House rules:

The FBG General rules apply to DotA, unless abrogated by the specific rules below. For the Forum/Discord, these rules are to be followed

  1. Do not flame, rage, troll, spam or insult other players excessively (You are not allowed to ignore/squelch your team or your captain: If your team, or captain, are excessively flaming you, report it to an Admin ingame; Note: You are allowed to squelch the enemy team, if they are excessively flaming in global chat)
  2. Do not dodge the game (leave the lobby) – After captains are picked/selected, you are not allowed to leave.
  3. Do not leave before the game is finished – Players are not allowed to leave the game prior to the team forfeiting (-gg), the game drawing (remake), or the game is over (Tree/Throne is destroyed) – Any player who leaves before the winning/losing conditions are met, may be subject to a warning/ban.
  4. Forfeit: If 4 players on one team have typed -gg, it is mandatory that the last player on that team type -gg as well (If 2 or more players wish to continue playing, you must play the game until it ends), except:

-> If 4 out of 5 players vote to forfeit, but the captain wishes to continue/refuses to forfeit, game must be played on (same applies in case a player dc’s and team has 4 players: 3 out of 4 players vote but the captain wishes to continue, game will continue). Do NOT leave the game until all required players have typed -gg and the scoreboard has been shown
  5. Do not pause (or save) the game while playing in order to distract players and hinder gameplay
  6. Do not teamkill (ex. blocking, maliciously using spells, destroying/hiding/stealing/massing items, etc)
  7. Do not go away from keyboard for an excessive amount of time, especially without telling other players beforehand, and/or refuse to play the game in an attempt to ruin it. Neither are you allowed to grief by resetting the afk timer – Note: You are allowed a 5 minutes pause (max) at the beginning of the game after hero picks (it doens’t stack with the 2 minutes captain has for heroes/lanes assignment, meaning you have 3 minutes more, if the 2 minutes from the captain were used; All other pauses/afks during the game will be considered based on admin judgment)
  8. Do not game ruin (This includes any intentional action that can cause the loss, or decrease your team’s chances of winning – examples: feed or suicide on purpose)
  9. Do not purposely glitch or exploit the game
  10. Do not ghost by leaking information to your enemies/opponents
  11. Do not abuse shared control

7 – Statistics

FBG keeps statistics for each season, which can be found here.
Winners of each season will be posted here.
Stats will be reset at the end of each season, typically lasting 3 months.

8 – General information

Important reminders:

  • To play at DotA Inhouses, you must have been previously vouched
  • All players must be able to speak English in order to communicate and coordinate with the team
  • Players must use their main account to play inhouse games – This has to be an account that is vouched and that all players recognize. Any players who wish to make a new account, must first ask an Admin (You are not allowed to create and/or play with a new account without being allowed/confirmed)
  • All vouched players are allowed to play, and should be treated equally
  • If there are more than 10 players wanting to play, then priority for slots is:
    • Players that are in the queue
    • Players on the winning team
    • Players from the losing team
  • If you want to be added to the queue, in order to play on the next game, you can add yourself to the queue on Discord – #queue
Players will be given 5 minutes in order to claim their reserved spot, and otherwise will give up their spot to the next player in line. (Note: Be active – checking Warcraft 3 and Discord – and do not abuse the 5 minutes benefit!)
  • If someone is breaking a rule that needs to be addressed mid game, you are allowed to pause and ask an Admin for a decision on the matter (Confirm with an Admin, before unpausing)
  • Everyone has to play their assigned hero (you cannot share control with allies and have them control your hero, or vice-versa, except in certain situations – such as lag, emergencies)
  • Using the hero, from a leaver, is allowed.
  • Disconnect/Game crash:
  • 1. If a player disconnects before creeps spawn, the game will be remade with the same players/teams, and same heroes using the following game mode, -apzm. If the player who disconnected cannot join the game or is worried about their computer/connection, they can ask to be replaced. All other players must join the remake.
  • 2. If a player disconnects before 10 mins, the game will be remade without question and will not count for stats. The player who disconnected cannot join the remake. All other players have first priority in the remake but are not required to join the remake. A new player draft and hero draft will occur unless the prior captains, and new player, agree to play same teams/heroes.
  • 3. If a player disconnects between 10 mins and 30 mins, both captains have to agree to remake, otherwise they must play on. If the game is remade, the same process as scenario 2 applies.
  • 4. If a player disconnects after 30 minutes, the game cannot be remade, and must be played on until winning/losing conditions are met (A team forfeiting, or tree/throne dies).
  • 5. If a game crash occurs before 30 minutes, the game will be remade with the in-game players having priority over the queue in the next game (Game can be remade with players agreeing to play same heroes/teams, or new draft of teams/heroes). The only exception to this rule is if the outcome of the game is 100% decided, in which case the game will count and the next game will follow the normal course of action (slot-wise): Queued > Winners > Losers > Rest.
  • 6. If a game crash occurs after 30 minutes, the ingame players will have priority in next game and the remaining slots will be filled by players in queue, by queue order. The only exception to this rule is if the outcome of the game is 100% decided, in which case the game will count and the next game will follow the normal course of action (slot-wise): Queued > Winners > Losers > Rest.
  • All players must listen to captains when orders pertain to the following:
    • Lane/hero assignments
    • Purchasing observer wards/courier/smoke at beginning of game
    • Who will take the Aegis
  • After the hero draft is complete, each player must select the hero assigned to them by the Captain. If no hero was specifically assigned to them yet, they should ask the Captain which hero to pick. The Captain may give the player the option of choosing from the remaining unassigned heroes (Keep in mind that the Captain has the right to change hero assignments, even if you already made your hero selection)
  • Observer slots should be used for players who are interested in observing the game;
Observer slot priority: Streamers (1 at least, if available) > Trial > Players in general.
  • Do not leave before the game is finished – Players are not allowed to leave the game prior to the team forfeiting (-gg), the game drawing (remake), or the game is over (Tree/Throne is destroyed) – Any player who leaves before the winning/losing conditions are met, may be subject to a warning/ban.
  • Forfeit: If 4 players on one team have typed -gg, it is mandatory that the last player on that team type -gg as well (If 2 or more players wish to continue playing, you must play the game until it ends), except: -> If 4 out of 5 players vote to forfeit, but the captain wishes to continue/refuses to forfeit, game must be played on (same applies in case a player dc’s and team has 4 players: 3 out of 4 players vote but the captain wishes to continue, game will continue). Do NOT leave the game until all required players have typed -gg and the scoreboard has been shown.
