What Irish Employers Actually Want From a CV?

We’re a CV writing team based in Dublin, and we see the same CV problems again and again when people ask us to look over their applications. Here are a few things Irish recruiters tend to look for, in case they help with your own job search.

Format and length

Two pages is the standard for most roles. One page is fine for graduates and school leavers.
Use reverse chronological order, with your most recent job first.
Leave out your photo, date of birth and marital status unless the employer asks for them.
Save and send it as a PDF, unless the application says otherwise.

Content that gets noticed

Replace “responsible for” with results, such as numbers, targets met, or time and money saved.
Keep your profile to three or four lines, and avoid clichés like “hard-working team player”.
Mirror the keywords in the job advert, because many employers use ATS software to screen CVs before a person reads them.
